According to the reports, Shawn mendes confirmed that he never had issues with Justin Bieber.

While speaking in an Interview with the GQ magazine, Shawn stated that Him and Justin Bieber were never enemies and they were maybe not friend.

According to him, He said 'texting Justin and being like, 'Yo, how you doing today?,' but we were never enemies, absolutely, and that's kind of something that people maybe might've turned it into at some point.'


Despite he was not having Issues with the fellow Canadian singer, Shawn Mendes recaped a video he happened to see where Justin claimed to have not known who he was.

Explaining further, He said;

'He said he really genuinely didn't know who I was, and I believed him. So whatever, maybe he did and he was trying to bug me either way,' said the Stitched stinger to the outlet.

'Justin and I were never enemies. We were maybe not friends. I was not texting [Justin] and being like, "Yo, how you doing today?," but we were never enemies, absolutely, and that's kind of something that people maybe might've turned it into at some point,' he explained.

We've known each other for a few years but for some reason during the pandemic we ended up becoming kind of closer than ever before.'

Shawn said he actually wrote Monster three years ago, but after discussing the song with Justin, he decided to get him involved, he said to The Project.

The SeΓ±orita singer said Justin 'connected' with the song, which made Shawn think it would be 'really beautiful' to have him sing on the track.

He said Justin 'wrote an incredible verse', which they included in the song, with the whole collaboration coming about organically.

Last month, the pair shared a behind-the-scenes clips for the music video Monster, on YouTube.

'So, we are on the set of the Monster music video. We just wrapped and we are in a field,' explained Justin to the camera as he and Mendes relaxed in a set of Director's chairs.

The nearly three-minute video showed the fellow pop stars geeking out over their video's faux forrest set, which was specifically 'brought in' and planted for Monster.

Mixed among clips of the pair shooting their individual scenes, Justin and Shawn discussed the 'emotional' nature of the tune and its coinciding visual.

'This song is really an emotionally deep rooted song. Both of us being put on a pedestal at a very, very young age and, you know, having these expectations for us to almost feel like we have to be perfect,' Bieber explained as Mendes nodded in agreement.
